Itinerary

Day 1

Activities: Chengdu (500m above sea level)

Our guide will pick you at the airport and take you to your hotel. Have dinner in one of the best Tibetan restaurant in Chengdu and our guide will briefly introduce the upcoming trip.

Day 2

Activities: Chengdu to Dartsedo (2600m) Distance:380km  Drive time:6-7hrs

Today is the starting of the trip and you will be on the car for around seven hours. You will arrive in Kangding in the afternoon and you can explore the town and can see the circle dance in the evening.

Overnight: Hotel, Dartsedo

Day 3

Activities: Dartsedo to Lhagang (3900m) Distance: 150km Drive time: 3hrs 

Today you will have a short driving time and you can have a day for acclimatizing. You will drive to Ragnaka(Xinduqiao in chinese), which is said to be photographic place by passing the first pass of Tsedo mountain. You will put the beautiful scenery in your camera lens and then drive to Lhagang. At Lhagang you will visit lhagang monastery, the nunnery and also see the vast grassland.

Day 4

Activities: Lhagang to Ganze (3400m) Distance: 283km Drive time: 5-6hrs

You will drive from Lhagang to Ganze see the different architecture of houses, culture and customs and of course people all along the way. will see many beautiful alpine meadows and also some beautiful snowy mountain ranges. Ganze is situated on a very flat ground and many of Tibetan businessmen are here to do business. You can explore the town in the afternoon.

Day 5

Activities: Ganze to Dege (3200m) Distance:204km Drive time:4-5hours drive

You will pass the land of cowboys, Manigango and then visit the amazing Yulhung lhatso, one of the most beautiful sacred lake in all Tibet. There you will get fantastic photos. Next ypu will pass the highest Trola mountain pass(5050m) and then descend to Dege. On the way you can visit Mandra monastery, a small well preserved monastery in a valley beside the road.

Day 6

Activities: Dege (3200m)

Stay in Dege and explore the town; visit the famous old texts Printing house, you will see the locals traditionally printing texts in printing house without using any modern machine and you will be amazed by it. Visit Genchen monastery, Thangtong gyalpo's temple and explore the town.

Day 7

Activities: Dege-Dzongsar (3300m) Distance:110km Drive time:3hrs drive

Afternoon you will arrive in Menshod valley, where the famous Dzongsar monastery is located and it is a place where the old tradition and culture are well preserved. You can visit Dzongsar Buddhist college, thangka painting class, handicrafts class and Dzongsar Tibetan hospital. You can relax and take a cup of coffee.

Day 8

Activities: Dzongsar (3300m)

In the morning do a small hike up to the Dzongsar monastery, which is perched on a hill, and visit the monastery and also you can view all of the valley from it. Then you can walk up to Gyalgen village and have your lunch there in a local family. In the afternoon drive to Gargu retreat center.

Day 9

Activities: Trek D1: Gagu retreat center -Dorphu valley, 3-4hours walk

At the end of the valley, on the hilltop, there is a meditation center or hermitage called Gagu Shangchuk Ritrehk. This is a holy site of Cherenzig. The Great Masters Ngari Kunga Jamyang, Penlop Lothar Wangpo, Lama Jamyang Gyaltsen and Deltul Kunga Gyaltsen all did religious practices at this place. At present it is used in this way by Dzongsar Monastery. Monks, nuns and even may lay people pray and study at the retreat center. We hike up on the hilltop viewing the whole picture of the retreat center and then start to descend to Dorphu Valley. As an unexplored hidden paradise with breathtaking scenic landscape, natural forests thrive in the Valley, rivers of different shades of greenish blue flow along trekking paths and a variety of animals co-exist peacefully in the area. The flora and fauna cover many species.

Day 10

Activities: Trek D2: Further Explore Dorphu valley

We hike to the upper parts of the Dorphu valley and will see the beauty of Dorgyal Monlam mountain covered by snow at the top, which is above 5500m high. We will find several nomad huts and small lakes on the way. There are rare flora and fauna that you have never seen. The area is enriched by multi-biodiversity and surrounded by ranges of mountains. The valley is also a great site of spiritual resonance and a place of protective mountain gods. There are only several nomad camps in the summer time in the valley. We ensure you will enjoy the silence and beauty of this valley.

Day 11

Activities: Trek D3: Dorphu Valley- Thuruma (4400m), 5-6hrs walk

Today we will climb over Shachen pass which stands at 4000m high and then descend the mountain to Thuruma. On our way to Thuruma, we will bypass Silingyangtso, a sacred lake with crystal clear water that mirrors the blue sky. In Tibetan areas, every twelve years there is a big Kora festival that celebrates the inauguration year of these sacred places and at that time all local people go for it.

Day 12

Activities: Trek D4:Thuruma – Ngadra Shag (4200m)

We will walk down to Karmo Taksang, a holy place for hermitage. Many great masters took meditation in early times at the place and nowadays graduate monks from Buddhist College usually meditate for five years there and some even retreat for their life time. We can visit and make a Kora around it. After that, we will walk down to Ronmey village and then will walk up towards Mt.Ngadra through Ronmey Valley. We could clearly view the magnificent Mt.Ngadra covered with glacier from Ngadra Shag.

Day 13

Activities: Trek D5:Ngadra Shag-Ngamongna Monastery (4100m)

This morning we will hike up Shamong la and we will see the Ngadra Mountain very clear before we reach at the pass. From the top of the pass, we could see the trekking routes of past two days and also all the surrounding alpines and ranges. Then we descend down the backside of the mountain and pass through holunong to Nyamongna monastery.

Day 14

Activities: Trek D6: Gyamongna Monastery –Hot spring-Zhila base camp (4300m)

Today we are going make a quick visit to Ngamongna monastery and then walk up to hot spring. We will have a picnic beside the hot spring and you can take a bath in the natural hot spring. This is natural hot spring is so cool that you can enjoy the beauty of the vast grassland while you take bath. Our clients like and enjoy this hot spring very much. Then afternoon we can walk up to the Zhila base camp.

Day 15

Activities: Trek D7: Zhila basecamp-Zhetso lake (4400)

We will hike mount Zhila in the morning to reach at the pass, 4900m, at noon and then walk down to Zhitso Lake. This lake is crystal blue and super calm that it reflects the colors of blue sky. We can beside the lake and can walk around the lake if you prefer. It is extremely beautiful and a perfect place for relaxing. The wild yaks and horses could be seen around this lake.

Day 16

Activities: Trek D8: Zhetso lake- Yilhung lhatso Lake (3990m)

This morning we will walk down through the nomads to holy Yilhung lhatso. Yilhun Lhatso Nature Reserve (190 sq km), extending from the lakeshore as far as the jagged snow peaks of the Trola range to the south, is a natural habitat for176 species of wild animals.It is said King Gesar's beloved concubine Zhumo was so taken by these stunning turquoise-blue waters that her heart fell in.The water is frigid and the surface freezes solid from September through March.

Day 17

Activities: Manigango-Ganzi(3400m) Distance:99km Drive time: 2hrs

In this morning we will visit Yilhung Lhatso in the morning and can take some good clips. In the afternoon we will drive down to Ganzi and there we can visit Ganzi monastery, from this platform we could see the old town and all the new town of Ganzi. We can also explore the Ganzi town and could see many Khampa businessmen.

Day 18

Activities: Ganzi-Rongdrak (2000m) Distance:320km Drive time:6-7hrs

Today you will view the majestic Yala mountain on the way if the weather is clear. You will decend to 2000m altitude and will find that Garong people's custome and traditions are very unique. Tronang village is very beautiful and you will see the old watchtowers.

Day 19

Activities: Rongdrak-Chengdu (500m) Distance:330km Drive time:5-6hrs

In the morning you can make a quick visit to Suopo village, which is famous of it's different watch towers and then leave Rongdrak. On the way you will see the famous mount four girls in Rilong town and can take pictures from the viewing spot.

Day 20

Activities: Depart from Chengdu

Your trip comes to end and you are going to depart from Chengdu. We will arrange a farewell meal together and then send to airport.
